PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a magnetically anisotropic rare earth sintered magnet that is effective for improving performance in a rare earth magnet, can safely use extremely active powder, where the degree of oxidation is low and a particle diameter is small, and can produce products having various shapes efficiently.
SOLUTION : At a weighing/filling section 41 and a densification section 42, a mold is filled with fine powder available as materials for magnetically anisotropic rare earth sintered magnets up to predetermined density. At a magnetic field orientation section 43, the fine powder is oriented by a pulse magnetic field before the fine powder is sintered by a sintering furnace 44 without any pressing. In the method, the operation of a mass-producing apparatus is simple and an enclosure can be miniaturized, thus eliminating the risk of oxidation and combustion of the powder, which has been the problem in a conventional method using a large-scale press. A product having the most important shape of the rare earth sintered magnet, such as a flat-plate-shaped/bow-plate-shaped magnet, can be manufactured efficiently by a multi-cavity mold.
