PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve safety while facilitating visibility at night for the use of a wire material as a safety guard or a tensioner rope in the construction field and a dangerous place by continuously providing a light emitting swelling part obtained by mixing the luminous light emitting agent in the transparent or translucent resin material along the longitudinal direction of the wire material. SOLUTION : A light emitting wire material 1 is formed by continuously providing spherical light emitting swelling parts 3 made of the transparent resin such as polyethylene with a required pitch in the longitudinal direction of a wire material 2 of a flexible rope formed of a wire rope obtained by twisting metal raw wires or resin and fiber ropes. This light emitting swelling part 3 has the structure that the luminous light emitting agent 4 is tightly and evenly mixed, and the swelling apart 3 is fixed to a center hole through the wire material 2. As this luminous light emitting agent 4, phosphor grains composed of alkali earth group alminate as a base crystal, Eu as an active agent, and Dy or Nd as an auxiliary active agent is used. This wire material receives the solar light and the illumination light, and accumulates the light, and emits the light in the dark atmosphere.
