The invention relates to a valuable document, such as a banknote, identification card, or the like, comprising a first machine-verifiable, physical or chemical feature and comprising a second machine-verifiable, physical or chemical feature, whereby the first and second verifiable features can be machine-verified separately. The valuable document loses the first verifiable feature at a first temperature, and the valuable document loses the second verifiable feature at a second temperature which differs from the first temperature. To this end, the invention provides a solution with which the unequivocal identification of a valuable document should be able to be carried out both using the valued document itself as well as using the ashes thereof without, however, making it possible to illegally recover the authenticity feature for reproducing valuable documents.
