PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve exhaust gas purification performance by increasing the oxygen occluding rate of a Rh-doped ZrCeNd composite oxide containing Ce, Zr and Nd and keeping Rh arranged at a crystal lattice point or between the lattice points. SOLUTION : In the Rh-doped ZrCeNd composite, ions of rare earth metals other than the Ce and Nd are additionally contained so as to compose the oxide together with ions of the Ce, Zr and Nd.
