PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for forming a powdery substance containing at least powdery carbon from a carbonate-containing substance naturally occurring on the earth. SOLUTION : The method for forming the substance by pulse laser comprises forming a powdery substance containing at least powdery carbon by applying a shock wave pulse laser to a carbonate-containing substance. This invention includes following embodiments : the carbonate-containing substance is a substance originating in the earth crust; the carbonate-containing substance is a calcium carbonate-containing substance; the powdery carbon includes at least any one of powdery graphite carbon, powdery amorphous carbon, and powdery diamond; the powdery substance further contains a powdery substance except the powdery carbon; and the powdery substance contains a nonstoichiometric compound.
