PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a scintillator having stable transparency and exhibiting less deterioration after irradiating with an X-ray, and a radiation detector by using the same. SOLUTION : This scintillator using a sintered material of a rare earth oxysulfide is provided by preparing a solid solution of phosphorus within the crystal of the rare earth oxysulfide and by setting 10-100 ppm amount of the solid solution based on PO4. Thereby, it is possible to stabilize its transparency even on making the scintillator a large size. By stabilizing the transparency, a light emission output is improved. COPYRIGHT : (C)2004, JPO&NCIPI
