PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a simplified inexpensive method, to minimize a waste solution and also to recover rare-earth metals even from a rare-earth alloy containing large amounts of oxygen. SOLUTION : The rare-earth alloy and glass slag are simultaneously melted and then solidified. By such a method, only the rare-earth metals in the rare-earth alloy can be allowed to react with the glass slag and extracted into the glass slag. COPYRIGHT : (C)2004, JPO
