PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To surely prevent the deformation occurring in the sintering process for a rare earth sintered magnet.
SOLUTION : When a compact 1 formed by compacting a rare earth alloy powder in a magnetic field is placed on a decking 2 and sintered to manufacture the rare earth sintered magnet, a decking 3 is placed on the compact 1 so that both of the upper and lower surfaces of the compact 1 are in contact with the deckings 2 and 3, respectively. Preferably, a suitable load is imposed on the compact 1, and the load imposed on the compact 1 is 0.3-20 g/cm2. Further, the compact 1 is placed so that the orientation of the rare earth alloy powder in the compact 1 becomes nearly perpendicular to the surfaces thereof in contact with the deckings 2 and 3.
