PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a direct-current high-pressure discharge bulb for an automobile lighting tool without any conspicuous color shading of arc, and without degradation of total travel characteristics and light flux.
SOLUTION : The discharge bulb V is equipped with a ceramic arc tube main body 11 having a discharge light emission chamber s with a pair of electrodes 15a, 15b set in opposition and with light-emitting matter sealed together with rare gas, by making a tube inner diameter at a cathode side smaller than that at an anode side (making a heat capacity at the cathode side of the main body 11 smaller) with a tube wall of the discharge light emission chamber s of the same thickness in a length direction, and eliminating deviation of temperature distribution inside the discharge light emission chamber s, amplification of color shading of arc is restrained and color shading of the arc in the ceramic tube 12 is alleviated (absorbed), so that the light-emitting matter does not collect between minute gaps of an electrode sealing part at a cathode side which is no longer the coldest spot (an amount of the light-emitting matter contributing to light emission is not decreased), and the total travel characteristics and the light flux are free from degradation.
