PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rutile-type manganese-titanium composite oxide that exhibits SCR denitrification activity in a temperature range lower than conventional catalysts and is capable of inhibiting N2O under SOx-containing conditions.
SOLUTION : A rutile-type manganese-titanium composite oxide is provided which has a chemical compositional formula represented by Mn(0.5+α)-xM1xTi(0.5-α)-yM2yO2 (where M1 is at least one element selected from Groups IIIA, VA, VIA, VIIA, VIII, 1B and 2B and rare-earth elements, M2 is at least one element selected from Zr, Si, Al, Ga and Sn, 0≤x≤0.4, 0≤y≤0.2, and -0.2≤α≤0.2, x-α<0.5); has a crystalline structure that is a rutile-type structure; gives a peak area ratio of Mn4+ to Mn3+ that is 0.10 or greater and 0.25 or less in the separation of Mn2p3/2 peak in XPS measurement; and has a sodium content of 30 ppm or less. There are also provided a production method thereof, and a use thereof.
