PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing Nd-Fe-B based magnetic powder or Sm-Fe-N based magnetic powder capable of increasing the rust preventability and heat resistance of a bond magnet without deteriorating its magnetic properties.
SOLUTION : Rare earth based magnetic powder and an organic silicon compound are mixedly sprayed into a reaction gas beforehand made into plasma under the atmospheric pressure together with a carrier gas, the organic silicon compound is made into a radical to cause plasma polymerization, and a polysiloxane film with a thickness of 4 to 200 nm is formed on the surface of rare earth based magnetic powder selected from Nd-Fe-B based magnetic powder and Sm-Fe-N based magnetic powder to obtain rare earth based magnetic powder excellent in rust preventability and heat resistance.
