Alloy contains (in wt.%) 9-11 cobalt, 16-26 chromium, 7-15 aluminum, 0.1-0.7 yttrium and/or scandium or rare earth and optionally 1.0-6 rhenium, 0-0.6 silicon, 0-6 gallium and a balance of nickel. Independent claims are also included for the following : (1) Protective layer made from the above alloy for protecting a component against corrosion and/or oxidation, especially at high temperatures; and (2) Component of a gas turbine with the above protective layer.
