PURPOSE : Provided are a biodegradable food packaging material which can be degraded by light, calcium and microorganism, and a method for preparing the food packaging material. CONSTITUTION : A food packaging material comprises : 10-70 wt%% of CaSO4; 0.1-5 wt%% of a composite photosensitizer comprising a rare earth metal soap and an organic sensitizer; 0.1-5 wt%% of a biodegradable part which comprises a metal stearate, a fatty acid amide and sodium alginate; and the balance of polypropylene or polyethylene. Preferably the composite photosensitizer comprises a rare earth metal soap and an organic sensitizer in a ratio of 1 : 1 to 1 : 2 by weight; and the CaSO4 has a particle size of 800 mesh or more. © KIPO 2007
