PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve the image quality of the conventional scan (axial scan), or cine-scan, or helical scan, or variable-pitch helical scan, or helical shuttle scan of an X-ray CT apparatus with a multi-row X-ray detector or two-dimensional X-ray area detector with the matrix structure such as a flat panel X-ray detector.SOLUTION : Pixel data of an image are converted to continuous-valued segment coordinate data to efficiently obtain re-projection data corresponding to a re-projection line. More precise re-projection data are obtained by using the theory of the distance driven method when the re-projection data are created. Tomographic image re-projection data are obtained by using the method of computing re-projection data. The re-projection data are reconstructed as an image, and by correcting the tomographic image by means of the beam hardening and the X-ray scattering, a tomographic image with better image quality can be obtained.COPYRIGHT : (C)2007, JPO&INPIT
