PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a visible light emitting material which efficiently emits visible light and a visible light emitting device using the visible light emitting material in a visible light source used in an optical memory, a display device, illumination, working, medical diagnosis, medical treatment, analysis, and the like. SOLUTION : In the visible light emitting material where a rare earth element is set to be an active element; a material of the light emitting material is formed of one type selected from glass, an amorphous thin film, a crystal contained glass, and a crystal content amorphous thin film.
