A nickel-based alloy contains (wt.%) : 19-22 cobalt; 16-29 chromium; 7-13 aluminum; 0.5-0.7 yttrium and/or a metal selected from scandium and rare earths; optionally up to 2 silicon; optionally 1-11 rhenium; and balance nickel. Independent claims are also included for the following : (1) a protective layer made from the above nickel-based alloy for protecting a component (1) from corrosion and/or oxidation at high temperatures; and (2) a component with the above protective layer.
