PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an economical method for purifying boron-containing water in which boron is removed by utilizing the adsorption reaction and desorption reaction of boron using the powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element, wherein the powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element with boron adsorbed is industrially and efficiently separated, and further, the powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element with boron adsorbed is repeatedly used as an adsorbent. SOLUTION : This method is characterized in that boron-containing water is subjected to a series of stages composed of the following (1) to (4), and the obtained powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element with boron adsorbed is repeatedly used as an adsorbent : a stage (1) where aqueous slurry containing the powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element with boron adsorbed is formed; a stage (2) where the aqueous slurry is left standing, and the powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element with boron adsorbed is subjected to sedimentation; a stage (3) where slurry composed of the produced eluent and the powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element with boron desorbed is formed; and a stage (4) where the slurry is left standing, and the powder of the hydroxide of a rare earth element with boron desorbed is subjected to sedimentation.
