PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a purification treatment method for boron-containing water where boron is removed from boron-containing water containing carbonate ions by utilizing the adsorption reaction and desorption reaction of boron using the hydroxide of a rare earth element, by which carbonate ions are beforehand economically and efficiently removed from the boron-containing water, thus boron is efficiently removed.
SOLUTION : In the purification treatment method for boron-containing water where boron is removed from boron-containing water containing carbonate ions by utilizing the adsorption reaction and desorption reaction of boron using the hydroxide powder of a rare earth element as an adsorbent, a calcium compound is added to the boron-containing water, so as to produce calcium carbonate, the same is separated away, and, successively, the boron-containing water is brought into contact with the hydroxide of a rare earth element, so as to remove boron.
