PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a magnetically anisotropic rare earth sintered magnet and an efficient method of manufacturing products of various shapes that are effective for improving the performance of rare earth magnets, and can safely use extremely active powder in which the degree of oxidation is low and the particle diameter is extremely small.
SOLUTION : In the manufacturing method, fine powders available as materials for magnetically anisotropic rare earth sintered magnets are filled into a mold up to a predetermined density in a weighing/filling section 41 and a densification section 42, fine powders are oriented by a pulse magnetic field at a magnetic field orientation section 43, and then the fine powders are sintered in a sintering furnace 44 without pressing. Since the operation of a mass-producing apparatus is simple in this method, an enclosure can be made smaller, thus excluding the risk of oxidation and combustion of the powder, which has been the problem in a conventional method using a large-scale press. A product in the most important shape in a rare earth sintered magnet, such as a flat-plate-shaped/bow-plate-shaped magnet, can be manufactured efficiently by a multi-cavity mold.
