PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fiber for optical amplification having a function of restricting induced Raman scatterings. SOLUTION : In the fiber for optical amplification 1 in which a rare-earth element is added to its core, the fiber has a filter functioning part which increases a transmission loss of light generated by a nonlinear optical effect in the fiber for optical amplification. As the filter functioning part, preferably, a fiber grating 2 formed by a modulation of a refractive index near the core, a fiber grating formed by periodic bending of the fiber, or a winding part obtained by winding the fiber in a coil shape at a proper radius of curvature.
