FIELD : metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE : invention relates to the field of metallurgy, and in particular to methods for producing a semi-finished product from an alloy based on zirconium, and can be used for the production of targets for reaction magnetron sputtering in an oxidizing environment with plasma-chemical deposition of oxide-based ceramic layers, as well as for the manufacture of structural parts and X-ray shields. Method involves placing a crucible of zirconium oxide or yttrium in a vacuum induction furnace, loading charge materials into the crucible in the form of zirconium and at least one rare earth metal in an amount of from 4 to 21 wt.%, vacuum induction melting of the alloy with the formation of a casting in an argon medium, obtaining an ingot, followed by hot rolling. Smelting of casting is carried out at a temperature of 1, 450–1, 950 °C, which is subjected to heating in the process of one-four-stage melting by the vacuum arc method with a current strength of 1.8 to 3.6 kA for 5 to 12 minutes, and then the ingot is subjected to forging at a temperature of 950–1, 150 °C, hot rolling at a temperature of 900–1, 050 °C and annealing at a temperature of 740–760 °C. Yttrium, gadolinium, neodymium, samarium, lanthanum, praseodymium, dysprosium are used as rare-earth metals.
EFFECT : invention allows to obtain a semi-finished product from an alloy based on zirconium with a uniform distribution of rare-earth metals, low porosity from 0, 4 to 1, 9 %, and also to increase the utilization of metals.
