PURPOSE : Provided are a lighting instrument and an image displaying apparatus using phosphors, wherein the phosphor is blue or red phosphor powder having more excellent luminous characteristics than rare earth element-activated sialon phosphors and more excellent durability than the conventional oxide phosphors.
CONSTITUTION : The lighting instrument comprises a light emitting light source which emits a light in the wavelength range of 330-500nm, and a phosphor. The phosphor comprises a compound containing a metal element M(provided that M is one element selected from Mn, Ce, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Yb, or two or more), Al, O, N, and an element A(provided that A is one element selected form C, Si, Ge, Sn, B, Ga, In, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y, La, Gd, Lu, Ti, Zr, Hf, Ta, and W, or two or more). The phosphor is obtained by firing the compound at 1500-2200°C under a nitrogen atmosphere and emits a fluorescent light having a peak in the wavelength range of 400-700nm when irradiated by an excitation source.
