PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing a rare earth sintered magnet by which workability can be improved while preventing deterioration in magnetic properties due to the reaction between a green compact and oxygen. SOLUTION : The sintered magnet can be manufactured by preparing a mixture consisting of R-Co5, R2-Co17or R-Fe-B (where R is one or more elements among rare earth elements including Y) type powder for sintered magnet and oil, compacting the mixture, working the resultant green compact, performing deoiling and then carrying out sintering. Moreover, the sintered magnet can be manufactured by compacting R-Co5, R2-Co17or R-Fe-B (where R is one or more elements among rare earth elements including Y) type powder for sintered magnet, immersing the resultant green compact in oil, working the green compact in the immersed state, performing deoiling and then carrying out sintering.
