PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare-earth-Mg-Ni-based hydrogen storage alloy which can store a large amount of hydrogen per unit volume, and is suitable for shrinking the size of and increasing a capacity of an alkaline storage battery. SOLUTION : The hydrogen storage alloy has a composition shown by the general formula : Ln1-αMgα(Ni1-βTβ)γ.
