PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To restrain crack leak occurring at a sealing part. SOLUTION : The metal-halide lamp is provided with a translucent airtight vessel 1 having an arc tube part 11 forming a discharge space 12, and a pair of sealing parts 121, 122 formed at either end of the arc tube part 11, a discharge medium with metal halide and rare gas sealed in the discharge space 12, metal foils 21, 22 having at least one hole part 23 on foil faces sealed to the sealing parts 121, 122, and a pair of electrodes 31, 32 with a base end side connected to end parts of the metal foils 21, 22 and tip sides arranged in opposition inside the discharge space 12. Provided a distance from the end part of the metal foils 21, 22 at the arc tube 11 side to the hole part 23 is X, a formula : X≤2.0mm is satisfied. COPYRIGHT : (C)2007, JPO&INPIT
