Use of a glass having satisfactory heat-insulating properties as a windowpane raises the temperature of room air because of the heat caused by indoor living in summer days when the outdoor temperature is relatively low, and this makes it necessary to forcibly lower the room temperature with an air conditioner. A windowpane is provided which is characterized by comprising a glass plate and, formed thereon, a film of a phase-change substance which is a manganese-containing perovskite oxide represented by (A1-xBx)MnO3 (wherein A is at least one of the ions of the rare earth elements consisting of La, Pr, Nd, and Sm; B is at least one of the ions of the alkaline earth metals consisting of Ca, Sr, and Ba; and 0≤x<1). The windowpane has the function of controlling heat, and can radiate the heat of room air to outside air when the room temperature is higher than the outside air temperature.
