PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a novel long afterglow phosphor which exhibits afterglow characteristics of white or multiple colors. SOLUTION : The long afterglow phosphor comprises Mg2SnO4and exhibits afterglow characteristics of white color. Mg2SnO4is doped with a transition metal element or rare-earth element ions, which provides long afterglow phosphors having various emission colors. The above phosphor doped with Mn2+can provide a long afterglow phosphor which exhibits afterglow characteristics of green color and the above phosphor doped with Cr2+can provide a long afterglow phosphor which exhibits afterglow characteristics of yellow color. Preferably, Mn2+or Cr2+is added so that their concentration in Mg2SnO4is 0.01 to 10% by mole. COPYRIGHT : (C)2007, JPO&INPIT
