PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide ferritic stainless steel for a petroleum fuel reforming apparatus, which exhibits superior oxidation resistance and sulfation resistance under a high-temperature atmosphere containing steam, CO2, and SO2, and has satisfactory thermal fatigue characteristics. SOLUTION : The ferritic stainless steel for the reforming apparatus contains 8-35 mass% Cr, 0.03 mass% or less C, 0.03 mass% or less N, 1.5 mass% or less Mn, 0.008 mass% S, one or two of 0.8-2.5 mass% Si and/or 0.6-6.0 mass% Al, while a total amount of Si and Al is controlled to 1.5 mass% or more. The ferritic stainless steel may contain one or more of 0.001-0.1 mass% Y, 0.001-0.1 mass% REM (rare earth elements), and 0.001-0.01 mass% Ca, and/or one or more of 0.05-0.80 mass% Nb, 0.03-0.50 mass% Ti, 0.1-4.0 mass% Mo, and 0.1-4.0 mass% Cu, as needed.
