PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an appropriate manufacturing method for a hydrogen storage alloy. SOLUTION : The present invention relates to a manufacturing method for a hydrogen storage alloy with an increased surface Ni concentration including the steps of : a) processing an A2B7 type hydrogen storage alloy containing a rare earth element, Mg and Ni with first alkaline aqueous solution dissolving a hydroxide of an alkali metal therein; and b), after the step a), separating the hydrogen storage alloy from the first alkaline aqueous solution and processing the hydrogen storage alloy with second alkaline aqueous solution dissolving a hydroxide of alkali metal therein.
