PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To aim at increase of luminous intensity of an ultraviolet lamp using OH radical light emission.
SOLUTION : Of the ultraviolet lamp using the OH radical light emission equipped with a pair of electrodes and with an OH radical source and rare gas sealed inside a discharge vessel having translucency, one of the pair of electrodes is arranged outside the discharge vessel or on a peripheral face inside, and the other has at least a sheet of dielectric and a discharge space arranged between itself and the one electrode, with rare gas filled with a sealing pressure of 29.3 to 99.8 kPa. The rare gas is preferred to be filled with a sealing pressure of 46.6 to 66.5 kPa, and is preferred to be argon. The OH radical source produced is preferred to be sealed with a ratio of 4.30×10-8 to 1.08×10-6 mol/cm3, and, especially if the OH radical source consists of H2O, the H2O is to be of ratio of 4.30×10-8 to 1.08×10-6 mol/cm3.
