PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an external-resonance up-conversion optical fiber laser with excellent conversion efficiency.
SOLUTION : An optical fiber laser comprises a laser element 31 that outputs light of a first wavelength and has a non-reflective (AR) layer and a highly reflective (HR) layer; an up-conversion optical fiber 39 having a core doped with a rare-earth substance; an output-side mirror DM2 that allows the optical fiber to operate as a resonator for the light of the first wavelength; an input-side mirror DM1 that allows the optical fiber to operate as a resonator for light of a second wavelength; a polarization mode controller 34 that converts incident light into light of specific polarization for the laser element and outputs the converted light; and a beam transformer 35 that transforms light incident from the polarization mode controller into a shape required by the optical fiber, outputs the transformed light to the optical fiber, inversely transforms light incident from the optical fiber into a shape required by the laser element, and outputs the transformed light to the polarization mode controller.
