PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To produce rare earth alloy powder for a permanent magnet holding sufficient coercive force and energy product even at a temp. of >80 deg.C and having high magnetic anisotropy and to provide a method for producing it capable of stable production. SOLUTION : This heat resistant rare earth alloy anisotropy magnet powder is the one in which the surface of anisotropy rare earth magnet powder is provided with a coating layer composed of Nd, Dy, Tb and Pr (hereinafter referred to as M series elements) and an alloy composed of one or >= two kinds among Nd, Dy, Tb and Pr (hereinafter referred to as an M series elemental alloy). It has a coating layer composed of an alloy (hereinafter referred to as an ML series alloy) obtd. by alloying one or >= two kinds among the elements (hereinafter referred to as L series elements) whose m.p. TM satisfies 400 deg.C= two kinds among the L series elements.
