METHOD FOR PREPARING HIGHLY SENSITIVE, THERMOSTABLE AND IRRADIATION-RESISTANT FLUORESCENT MATERIALS

PURPOSE : Provided are a method for the CaSO4 doped with a rare earth element, the CaSO4 doped with a rare earth element prepared by the method which is excellent in sensitivity, thermal stability and radiation resistance, and an electronic device using the doped CaSO4. CONSTITUTION : The method comprises the steps of mixing a rare earth element salt and a CaCl2·2H2O aqueous solution and reacting the mixture with H2SO4 to form a CaSO4-based gel powder; drying the gel powder; heat treating the dried gel powder at a temperature of 600-750 deg.C; and applying an ultrasonic wave to the heat treated one in an aqueous medium to separate it into a granule. Preferably the rare earth element is at least one selected from the group consisting of Dy^3+, Tm^3+, Tb^3+, Ce^3+, Pr^3+ and Sm^3+. © KIPO 2007
