PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high wear resistant tough steel having particularly excellent fatigue strength, further having excellent wear resistance and toughness, thus having reduced wear, cracks and chipping, and suitable for dies, cutters, tools and machine parts.
SOLUTION : The high wear resistant tough steel has a composition comprising, by weight, 0.1 to 2.7% C, ≤2.5% Si, ≤2% Mn, 0.3 to 20% Cr, ≤12% Mo, ≤20% W, 0.4 to 15% V, ≤20% Co and 25 to 100 ppm N, and further comprising either one selected from ≤1% Al, ≤0.5% Ti, ≤1.5% Nb, ≤0.5% B, ≤1% Zr and ≤1% rare earth elements REM (including one or more selected from La, Ce and Y), and in which the minimum value αmin. of the coefficient α showing the degree in the sharpness of the shape in the cross-section of MC type carbide grains with a diameter of the equivalent circle of 5 to 25 μm satisfies 0.70≤αmin.≤0.95.
