PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode material for a spark plug which has excellent high temperature thermal conductivity, wear resistance and oxidation resistance, and coping with the increase of the temperature in an internal combustion engine and environmental control. SOLUTION : The electrode material for a spark plug has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.1% (inclusive of zero) C, 0.3 to 3.0% Si, <0.5% (inclusive of zero) Mn, <0.5% (inclusive of zero) Cr, ≤0.3% (inclusive of zero) Al and one or two selected from Y and rare earth elements by 0.01 to 0.3% in total, and the balance Ni with inevitable impurities.
