PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth silicate phosphor for LED which efficiently converts the wavelength of near ultraviolet light and is suitable for use in a white LED having a wide wavelength region of the emitted light and a white LED light emission device having a wide field of applications.
SOLUTION : The rare earth silicate phosphor is expressed by general formula : Ln2xGd2(1-x-y)Ce2ySiO5 (wherein, Ln is at least one kind of element out of Sc, Y and Lu). x and y is 0.1≤x≤0.5 and 0.01≤y≤0.1. The peak wavelength of the emitted light intensity excited by a light with a wavelength between 360 nm and 400 nm is longer than 450 nm. Its half width is larger than 112 nm. The white LED light emission device uses the phosphor.
