PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an acid-resistant rare earth complex which does not deteriorate its light emitting characteristics even under acidic conditions, or can control the deterioration.
SOLUTION : A surfactant is attached to the periphery of a rare earth complex molecule, in which organic ligands are coordinated to a rare earth ion being the central ion. With this configuration, the surfactant plays a role as a protector thereby the rare earth complex is not decomposed even under the acidic conditions so that high light emitting characteristics are retained. Since compounding of the complex in a natural resin can be realized, new hybridized materials are obtainable by combining the light emitting rare earths with, for example, Japanese paper, foreign paper or a natural fiber.
