PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a catalyst carrier capable of sufficiently improving its reforming characteristics for a hydrogen forming reaction, containing metal oxide particles in the coating thereof and yet having a high adhesiveness to a variety of substrates such as a honeycomb filter.
SOLUTION : The production method of a catalyst carrier comprising a substrate and a coating formed thereon containing at least one first metal oxide particles selected from a group consisting of alumina, zirconia, titania, iron oxide, rare earth oxide, alkali metal oxide and alkaline earth oxide is characterized in that the above coating is prepared by the steps of first mixing the first metal oxide particles with a fluid raw material composition comprising at least one second metal oxide particles selected from a group consisting of alumina, zirconia, titania, iron oxide, rare earth oxide, alkali metal oxide, and alkaline earth oxide at a shear rate of not less than 1, 000 s-1 to prepare the coating composition; coating thus obtained coating composition onto the substrate; and subjecting the coating composition coated on the substrate to a heat treatment.
