PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical amplifier using an organic inorganic complex containing rare earth metals in which (1) the rare earth metals can be heavily doped, (2) quenching is controlled, (3) optical transparency is ensured, and (4) economical efficiency is improved. SOLUTION : An optical transmission channel consists of an organic polymer made by dispersing the rare earth metal. The rare earth metals form an inorganic dispersed phase in which another metal kind which makes configuration with at least one rare earth metal through oxygen. Preferably, the diameter of the inorganic dispersed phase, which consists of the rare earth metal and another metal kind is 0.1 to 1, 000 nm which makes configuration therewith through oxygen. Preferably, the proportion of the rare earth metal is 90 wt% or less, by solid content conversion of total amount of the organic polymer and the rare earth metal dispersed phase. The metal which makes configuration with the rare earth metal through oxygen is one or more sorts of elements selected from group 3B, group 4A, and group 5A metals. As an example of a construction of the rare earth metal dispersed phase, a formation is shown by a rare earth metal salt and another metal alkoxide. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
