PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an inorganic phosphor having a high luminance as compared to conventional rare-earth-activated sialon phosphor, and chemical stability in relation to an alkali earth metal containing oxynitride phosphor.
SOLUTION : The invention relates to the phosphor comprising an inorganic composition obtained by burning a mixture of raw materials comprising at least silicon nitride powder, an inorganic material containing elements M and an inorganic material containing elements A in a nitrogen atmosphere at 1, 200-2, 200°C, and the composition comprises at least M element, A element, silicon, oxygen and nitrogen, wherein the M is at least one or two or more elements selected from a group comprising Mn, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb, and A is at least one or two or more elements selected from a group comprising Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba, and the composition comprises a crystal having a crystal structure the same as A2Si5N8 and a crystal containing the element A.
