An exhaust gas clarifying catalyst which has an Al oxide and, carried thereon, a Pd oxide, characterized in that the Al oxide is LnAlO3 [wherein Ln represents a rare earth element]. The exhaust gas clarifying catalyst has a noble metal itself exhibiting enhanced activity as compared to the metal contained in a conventional catalyst, and also can prevent its catalytic activity from being lowered by the exposure to a high temperature, which results in the exhibition of satisfactory catalyst performance also in the operation at the start-up and in a low temperature operation (at 400°C or lower). © KIPO & WIPO 2007
