PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a rare earth-activated alkali metal fluorinated iodinated compound excellent in image characteristics represented by luminance, sharpness and graininess. SOLUTION : The method for producing photostimulable fluorophor represented by general formula Ba1-xM2xFI : yM1, zLn and comprising following steps is provided; (1) a step for preparing a water solution of ≥2 N BaI2 concentration and containing halide of M2 and M1, (2) a step for adding a water solution of ≥5 N inorganic fluoride concentration and a Ln halide thereto so as to obtain precipitates while keeping the water solution at ≥50°C, (3) a step for isolating the precipitates and (4) a step for baking the isolated precipitates (M2 is an alkaline-earth metal selected from Sr and Ca; M1 is an alkali metal selected from Li, Na, K, Rb and Cs; Ln is a rare earth selected from Ce, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Tm and Yb; and x, y and z are 0≤x≤0.5, 0≤y≤0.05 and 0
