PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing a sintered magnet of the rare earth elements, which provides a magnet having practically sufficient coercive force and high residual magnetization. SOLUTION : The method for manufacturing the sintered magnet of the rare earth elements comprises a step of spouting a working gas containing a primary pulverizing gas and a secondary vortex-flow-generating gas consisting of an inert gas containing oxygen of 100 ppm or less and moisture of 100 ppm or less, to an alloy expressed by Rx(Fe1-aCoa)yBzTb(where R expresses at least one rare earth element including Y; T expresses metals except Fe and Co; x, y, z, and b are atom.%, and satisfy 11≤x≤16, 70≤y≤85, 4≤z≤9, 0≤b≤4; and (a) expresses a ratio of Fe to Co and satisfies 0≤(a)≤0.2), with a counter jet mill provided with a pulverizing gas nozzle and a vortex-flow-generating gas nozzle, to make the alloy into fine powders with mean particle diameter of 1-20 μm, a step of compacting the fine powders in a magnetic field, a step of sintering the compact, and a step of heat-treating the sintered compact.
