PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an alloy powder containing a small amount of oxygen for a high magnetic magnet in high yield.SOLUTION : This method for producing the rare earth alloy powder for a rare earth magnet comprises supplying carrier gas, and pulverizing a coarse raw alloy powder with the airflow, wherein an inert gas containing a small amount of oxygen and an inert gas containing a more amount of oxygen than that are alternately supplied as the carrier gas. When the rare earth alloy powder is produced from an R-T-B alloy, an oxygen content in the inert gas containing the small amount of oxygen is controlled to 500 ppm or less and an oxygen content in the inert gas with the more amount of oxygen is controlled to 1, 000 to 5, 000 ppm. A period of time for supplying the inert gas with the more amount of oxygen is controlled to 1/3 of the total period of time for supplying the carrier gas.COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
