PURPOSE : A waterweed island for protecting ecosystem and preventing contamination of water by fixing a waterweed island into which a waterweed with natural purification activity can be planted to a desired position is provided. CONSTITUTION : A waterweed island for protecting ecosystem and preventing contamination of water comprises : a concrete block(110) which is formed in a rectangular shape, which has a connecting ring(111) installed on an upper surface thereof such that a wire(113) is connected to the connecting ring, and which is dropped onto the bottom of water; an elastic wire(120) which is connected to the wire of the concrete block through a wire ring and has a connecting ring(123) formed on an end thereof; a buoyancy plate(130) which is formed in a disc shape using polyethylene and has a protection wall(131) formed on an upper surface edge thereof and plural connecting rings(133) formed on the bottom thereof and connected to the elastic wire, and on which plural root vegetation holes(135) are formed; a buoyancy styrofoam(140) which is formed in a disc ring shape in a size having a space defined by a central upper surface and an edge of the buoyancy plate, and which is adhered onto an upper surface of the buoyancy plate to provide buoyancy; and an insertion agent(150) formed of carbon and earth and sand and filled in a space between the protection wall on the upper surface of the buoyancy plate and an outer wall of the buoyancy styrofoam and in a central space part of the buoyancy styrofoam. © KIPO 2006
