PURPOSE : An ecology artificial island for water purification is provided to improve quality of water and protect an ecosystem by fixing sand and stones, charcoal and vegetation bags onto the bottom of river using FRP poles, thereby enabling inhabitation of fishes, underwater living things and aquatic plants. CONSTITUTION : An ecology artificial island(100) for water purification comprises : high density polyethylene netron for bottom(110) installed on the bottom(1) of a river or freshwater pond; plural fixing poles(120) which are formed of FRP and inserted into the bottom of the river or freshwater pond from the above the high density polyethylene netron for bottom, and on which plural tying projections(121) are formed; nylon wires(130) installed on the fixing poles in multistage to tie the respective fixing poles to one another; sand and stones(140) stacked on a lower portion of the fixing poles to form a lower part of the artificial island; a non-woven fabric mat(150) installed on an upper portion of the sand and stones; plural charcoal bags(160) installed on an upper surface of the non-woven fabric mat; vegetation bags(170) in which earth and sand and nutrients are contained, and which are piled up on upper surfaces of the plural charcoal bags and the non-woven fabric mat to form an upper part of the artificial island; and high density polyethylene netron for sides(180) installed on outer circumferences of the sand and stones and the vegetation bags. © KIPO 2006
