PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high speed rewritable type optical recording medium capable of performing recording even at a recording speed of 20 m/s linear speed (equivalent to 6x DVD) or higher and having excellent repetitive recording characteristics and shelf reliability.SOLUTION : (1) In the rewritable type optical recording medium capable of performing recording at a linear speed of 20 m/s or higher and including a substrate on which a first protective layer, an interface layer, a phase-change recording layer, a second protective layer, and a reflective layer are formed in this order, the first protective layer contains a mixture of ZnS and SiO2, the interface layer contains a material containing Si and O, the phase-change recording layer contains Sn, Sb, Ga, and Ge as main components and a content of Si and O in the interface layer is 10 to 60 % greater than a content of Si and O in the first protective layer. (2) The optical recording medium mentioned in (1) is characterized in that the phase-change recording layer further contains <10at% at least one added element selected from the group composed of In, Te, Al, Zn, Se, Mg, Bi, Mn, C, N, Au, Ag, Cu, Co and rare earth elements.COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
