PURPOSE : A separating and retrieving method of a cerium hydroxide from waste slurry of cerium abrasive material for CRT is provided to separate, retrieve and recycle rare earth compound having high purity from waste slurry of cerium abrasive material. CONSTITUTION : The separating and retrieving method of a cerium hydroxide from waste slurry of cerium abrasive material for CRT includes the steps of : forming salt of rare earth sulfate by mixing dry powder of waste slurry and sulphuric acid; leaching salt of rare earth sulfate in water; adding sodium sulfate to the water leaching solution, and precipitating and retrieving complex salt of rare earth sodium sulfate ; injecting the complex salt of rare earth sodium sulfate to water solution of sodium hydroxide to convert it into rare earth hydroxide; oxidizing cerium hydroxide by injecting air into the water solution of the rare earth hydroxide; and retrieving quadrivalent cerium hydroxide by dissolving sulphuric acid in rare earth hydroxide. © KIPO 2006
