PURPOSE : Provided are a water-repellent gypsum composition that exhibits water repellency, and a glycol-functional siloxane mixture that is a substitute for H-siloxane used to impart hydrophobicity and is produced in a commercial quantity capable of satisfying global demands for a silicon-based water repellent. CONSTITUTION : The water-repellent gypsum composition comprises : 100 parts by weight of a gypsum, ; 0.05-50 parts by weight of oxides and/or hydroxides of alkali metals and/or alkali earth metals; and 0.05-20 parts by weight of a glycol-functional siloxane mixture. The siloxane mixture is prepared by mixing 1mole of alkyltrihalosilane or alkyltrialkoxysilane with at least 2.5moles of glycol or a mixture of glycols. The oxides and/or hydroxides of alkali metals and/or alkali earth metals of the second component are CaO, MgO, Ca(OH)2, Mg(OH)2, NaOH, or combinations thereof. © KIPO 2006
