This invention provides a process for producing a rare earth activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide-based photostimulable phosphor, which can realize repeated use by exposure to X ray and has good productivity. The process for producing a rare earth activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide-based photostimulable phosphor represented by general formula (1) in a liquid phase is characterized by comprising parallelly conducting the step of adding an aqueous inorganic fluoride solution to a reaction mother liquid containing a barium halide dissolved therein at a reaction temperature of 85ºC to 100ºC to give a precipitate of a rare earth activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide-based photostimulable phosphor precursor crystal and the step of removing a solvent from a reaction mother liquid to prepare a photostimulable phosphor precursor. General formula (1) Ba1-xM2xFBryI1-y : aM1, bLn, cO
